Our 7 Qtpies

Embarking on a new adventure!

A couple of months ago I was offered a job that I wasn't looking for. It fit so perfectly with my life that I couldn't not take it. I have often wondered why God put that job in place for me. Really, it is not much money, even though the pay is good, there are not enough hours to make it a great extra income. I know that God has a plan.
For the last two weeks Donnie and I have been waiting to hear from his job if he was going to be one of the 31 people laid off. Indeed, he is. Today he was laid off.
We are actually really excited about it. Money-wise, we are not stressed. (yet) We have about 5 months of his pay to cover us. However, it does mean that we are now without insurance. With a little over a year left to pay on braces, and 6 kids to take care of.
My job offers insurance. They even offered it to me working one day a week. I turned it down, of course, but now I am going to look into it. I probably don't make enough to pay for it, but it will be cheaper than Cobra insurance. We'll see if it will work out tomorrow.

Why are we so excited about this layoff?

Donnie hated his job. His love language is words of affirmation, and his job was to get screamed at by angry customers all day. He was miserable.
We are excited to see where God is going to take is now! There are two jobs Donnie was already applying for. He even has an interview tomorrow. With a guy who used to work for the same company and knows his former management. The management team now knows that Donnie is working with this guy and they said they would give him a great recommendation! They also say that one of the jobs would be a great fit for Donnie's skill set. (and may come with free college tuition for us, and possibly the kids!)
We don't know what God's plans are for our future, but we do know they are to prosper us, not to harm us. We believe that.

It is also exciting to watch God work miracles! We know that He will be doing that. No doubts, we just have to watch for them. It is like embarking on a new adventure! We have never been in such a position of having to so completely rely on God before. Our faith and prayer life are about to be stretched and grown. Our children are going to get to watch God answer prayers and work miracles in our lives!
This could be a rocky road. We don't know what is ahead. Foreclosure? But it will be an adventure.

Now to convince Donnie that this is not a long break to have as much nookie as he can get.

Hopefully you will be able to go see Drew graduate then! That would be great. I am glad that he has something lined up...that helps on the stress.

Tell Donnie he doesn't have any stress to release yet and you don't want to be pregnant for your anniversary trip!!!

God works things out, I'm so glad you got a job offer and that your hubby doesn't have to do something he hates. We went through that and it is no fun. You are in my prayers. Does your state offer free insurance for the kids? I know in MD they do. Cobra is insane, so that might help. Good luck and keep us updated.

Wow! Way to "count it all joy". Yes, God WILL work it all out, but it's still really hard not to get all stressed out when these things happen. I will pray too that Donnie gets the job he wants, and that the whole insurance thing works out for you guys.

Wow... that is awesome! I will keep you guys in prayer and watch for updates. Jason's layoff was probably the best thing that could have happened to us over the summer.
