Use it for good!

About 2 years ago I got to be a beta tester for Kajeet cell phones for kids. It was a fun opportunity for us, and for Devon, who was the tester. Of course, back then there were some kinks to be worked out, but I loved the purpose of kajeet.
With Kajeet you have two sections, or wallets, to the plan. You put money in the account to pay for the phone, and then your child can put money in their wallet to pay for extras, like texting, that you don't want to pay for. That way you know that the designated money you spent in order to be able to reach your child is not wasted in 2 days on text messages. When your child runs through thier wallet on texting or calls, they are done. And they can only use your wallet for what it is intended for.
You can shut the phone off during school hours so there is no way for them to be texting, a feature I would love on Devon's new plan, lol. You can also block numbers you don't want the kids calling or texting back and forth. Plus, you can set up GPS to find your child at any time, or even set up times to do it automatically so you know your child goes where he says.
The plans are reasonable for a pre-teens usage, it is all pay as you go. If you have a teen, forget it, you want a really good, all-inclusive plan, trust me!
If you are thinking of getting a plan for your pre-teen and want to try out kajeet (no contracts) I have a code for you. New subscribers get $10 bonus airtime when they sign up. Use the code Bonus10. The offer is good through February 1, 2009.
