Backseat Drawing

The great people at Out of the Box sent me a couple of games to review, and Backseat Drawing is one of them.

I wasn't sure about this game appealing to an all-adult audience, but I took it to Ladies Night Out with me this weekend and we played it. (my gal-pals are great testers!)

The game is actually really fun! Sort of like Pictionary, but with a twist that makes it it's own game. I like this one better.

You need two teams, at least two per team, but 3 or more per team is better. Each team has a person who does the drawing and a person who tells them what to draw. You rotate each round. Both teams draw the same word and race to see who can guess it first, and the team with 7 points wins.

The trick is that you have to get the person to draw what is on the card with nothing but directional and shape words. When you say "Draw a narrow rectangle." you have NO idea how narrow they are going to draw it, lol. You can't tell them to draw ears or things like that, making it very difficult. It is also hard not to say things like "Draw a bumpy oval next to the balloon." You can't say "balloon" because it gives it away. If your team is listening, which they weren't, thankfully, lol.

I also played this with my kids and one of their friends. Across the board, everyone enjoyed this game. The women had a lot of fun with it and one of them was even looking to buy it and couldn't find it. She played it Friday night, and was asking to borrow it on Sunday. I think that says something!
I highly recommend this game. I will be bringing it with me to our Christmas get-togethers with friends and family.

You can find retailers on the Out of the Box website. It looks like Barnes and Noble, Target, and Games by James have it in stores.
