I wished I had one of my children's phones with the internet with me several times.
It is about time I have my own.
I know, my kids think I can't handle it. After all, I can't even run the camera on the phone I have. I decided to prove them wrong and even learned to TEXT!
What I would like is a phone that I can do just as much as I can on my computer while I am out and about. With 7 kids there are a lot of doctor and dentist appointments, waiting in the car for them to get out of sports, etc.
What I want is a Windows Mobile smartphone. The Samsung Omnia™ touch screen is pretty cool.
This phone is almost better than my computer! It has Microsoft Office! I can actually do more on it than my computer! The phone, unlike my computer, has Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. It also has Microsoft Outlook Mobile. The only thing I would miss about my computer is having a keyboard and mouse.
The Omnia uses the same operating system as the computer, making them able to sync up.
I would love to be able to take pictures with the camera that is actually 5.0 megapixels, and then crop them and mail them to family or post them on my blog. The camera has panorama capture, cropping capabilities and smile/face recognition.
There are music features, but those do not interest me at all.
The price is only $199. Much cheaper than a computer, lol.
I would also love the Verizon Wireless XV6800 because it has a keyboard and track wheel, but it is less memory and lower megapixels in the camera.
All the Windows Mobile Smartphones come with a little warning "Connectivity and synchronization may require separately purchased equipment and/or wireless products (e.g., Wi-Fi card, network software, server hardware, and/or redirector software). Service plans are required for Internet, Wi-Fi and phone access." I am not sure why you would need a wi-fi card if it is internet ready, so that concerns me. I have wireless internet at home, but that shouldn't make a difference for a phone. That is something to check into further.
My phone has been missing since December 5, I would LOVE this as a Christmas gift. (that would be a big hint, hint to my hubby)
Mom Central, you gals ROCK! Thanks for all the great reviews and product information.
2 people think my kids are qtpies:
Yes! that would be an awesome phone - forget the laptop. Donnie and Dan could go shopping together!
A Windows phone scares me; I wouldn't want a BSOD in the middle of an important call! But if you just think of it as a computer that happens to have a phone in it, it's not so bad.
