Speaking of Cereal

Yesterday I was talking about cereal and vitamin D and calcium requirements for children. Big G cereals help us reach the new recommendations that pediatricians now recommend for children.

With that new information I was beyond thrilled to get to try the new flavor of Kix cereal. I love Kix cereal, and so do most of my kids. Some of them thought it was a bit bland before.

General Mills sent me a super fun box in the mail with their new Honey Kix, a cereal container to keep it fresh, two cereal bowls, an on the go container for milk (that keeps it cold), cereal and includes a spoon, plus a cute honey pot shaped like a bee hive. So adorable!
I opened the cereal immediately to taste it with a swarm of little children around me to get their first taste, too.

I am hooked! It is so delicious! It is Kix with a little hint of honey, not too sweet, and just right. I sat and snacked on it for a little bit, but I had to put it away for the kids to try in the morning.
I knew they would all love it, but Hope-Anne was skeptical, she isn't fond of regular Kix and didn't hold much hope of this being better. I made her try them and she liked them! Kix with Honey is one cereal that everyone will eat, plus is healthy.
Honey Kix is a good source of calcium, vitamin D, and fiber. It contains 16 grams of whole grains per serving, which goes a long way to meet the 48 grams recommended per day.

At first I thought-great, they've ruined a classic by sugaring it up, cross that one off my list! I wouldn't have bought it at the store. BUT I trust your opinion and since you say it's not laden with sugar we'll give it a try. I'm a huge Kix fan, it's so versatile.

Well since I let them live on Skittles and coke, I toss them an apple and a Flintstone vitiamen..LOL just kidding really.
If they want desert they have to eat their dinner period.

We are trying to replace junk food snacks in our home with the good stuff-apples, carrots, pineapple, grapes, ect. I'd love to replace the sugar laden cereals in our pantry with some Honey Kix!

I make sure they get a balance of food. Snacks include fruits and veggies and less of the sugary bad stuff.

That cereal sounds yummy!
We eat fruit for breakfast everyday! I am trying to give the kids healthier choices for snack time instead of fruit snacks...etc.

Lots of healthy yummy fruits and vegs. We don't keep much "junk" or sweets in the house so there is no temptation to eat it. Thanks for entering me!

I try to give my kids balanced meals (protein, fruit, vegetable) and I give them a multi-vitamin everyday.

Since I am a daycare provider I have to follow guidelines for mealtimes so my kids are always served what my daycare kids eat which is always something from the bread group, a serving of fruit, and a glass of milk. Each day is different so they don't tired of having the same thing. Some days we have a hot breakfast...waffles, pancakes, muffins... and some morning which are more rushed we will have something quick like cereal with blueberries or bananas.
