Our 7 Qtpies

August 03, 2007

Can you guess what this was?

Cody set the microwave for 1 minute for this and Trinity decided it wasn't long enough. I don't know HOW long she cooked it for, but there was still 4 minutes left on the timer when Hope-Anne found the kitchen filled with thick smoke. I couldn't even breathe while setting the fan up. I can't get the smell out of my house or my clothes.
It WAS a Hot Pocket!

O Mercy! I have never seen something so burnt like that after being cooked in the microwave. I hope the smoke and smell subsides soon. Praise God that it didn't catch your house on fire!

Hey Lisa, try putting some baking soda in the microwave to absorb the burnt smell... may take two or three times of doing it to get the smell out of it.

Okay, that's bad. My best friend had some popcorn get burned in her microwave and they had a terrible time getting rid of the smell. I have heard that vinegar is supposed to work well. You can boil a mixture of vinegar and water in a measuring cup (about half and half) in your microwave for a few minutes, leave it to steam for about 15 minutes until it begins to cool, and then wipe the microwave clean.

Hmm, you think there's culinary school in Trin's future?

Glad you caught it before it ignited, it looks like it wasn't far from that point. YIKES!

When my sister was younger, she tried to bake a cookie in the microwave by putting a lump of cookie dough straight onto the glass plate and setting the timer for thirty minutes. I found it and shut it off somewhere in the middle, and it was just a charred, nasty little lump. Ugh.

My son set off the smoke alarm in our house after cooking a frozen burrito to death. It took ages to get the smell of smoke out!
