Jacarandastyle was started by Dori Rootenberg, who married a South African, and brings home beautiful works of art from South Africa. A portion of every purchase made at JacarandaStyle is donated to the Ethembeni School (which means Place of Hope) in South Africa. The school serves 300 physically disabled and visually impaired children from all over Kwazulu -Natal, Kingdom of the Zulu (South Africa).
I am in love with the bead work at JacarandaStyle! I would wear these darling beaded necklaces, pictured below, with pride. They are simply amazing! Dori also carries many other styles of jewelry that strikes my fancy, as well, but the beads are making me drool.
The ceramics are gorgeous and colorful, as well, but what struck me as truly unique are the Ostrich Egg art. The artists have taken these Ostrich egg shells and made gorgeous bowls and tea light holders, that they hand etch designs in.
I love when a company takes a communities talents and gives back to the community they way JacarandaStyle does. Jobs are created for the people in South Africa making these items, and not only are they paid, but the school is given money. Several children are able to visit NY City each year and participate in the New York City Marathon.
