The Tree Adventure

I don't know how I am going to get pictures, because Kaytlin dropped yet another camera and broke it. That is two in the last year. I should have named her Grace. She has trouble with stairs, too.
I caved and gave Donnie his dream of being the dad in the cutting down the tree and bringing it home Christmas memory.
Thankfully I had mastitis this weekend and couldn't go with them. I stayed home with Sam. That left room for the dog. And our dog takes up two seats in the car. He is a monster size. And you will believe me when I am done with this tale.
Donnie went out and bought some sleds and some rope for this little adventure. He even braided the rope to make it strong for pulling a huge tree.
The kids and Donnie loaded up into two cars with the dog and drove off to the tree farm. Most people were there with their 4x4's, but the owners said they could walk over and cut down trees in a closer spot.
They hooked the sleds up to Ratchette's collar and let him go. He pulled the kids with delight, and also managed to pull my 250lb+ husband up a hill. Oh, yes he did! with the thing tied to his collar, not a harness!
Boy, Cody got a ride of his life when a girl dog showed her face. We'll just leave it there.
And then the tree picking commenced. Donnie wanted a thick, soft tree, and Kaytlin wanted something less bushy, but those trees looked too skeletal for Donnie. Finally they found something in the middle. Donnie asked Trinity about getting that tree and she said "No, I want that tree." It was only about 50ft tall. She did not get her dream tree this year.
Donnie sawed the tree down and they put it on a sled and hooked it up to Ratchette. Dutifully pulling the tree like he was meant to pull trees for a living, Ratchette was a hit with all the patrons at the tree farm.
We always suspected he was part Husky.
I am going to try to get the pictures off the disc at my friends house.

That is hysterical! Wow~ sounds like an adventure for sure! See...he is a great dog, and he brought great memories!

We went and got our tree on Sunday, too. It isn't the "perfect" tree like we had last year, but it is still fun.

I am so happy that you and Donnie gave each other such wonderful surprises this Christmas...both are happy! :)

I am glad you are feeling better too! Now, I just hope Sam keeps up eating well...and sleeping! :)
*hugs*

I love animals. Dogs are way cooler than people.

I wish I had been there to see that event.
