Our 7 Qtpies

The crib came down

Sam has slept in his crib maybe 5 nights in the last 14 months. He is petrified of it. He screams and shakes in fright when we put him in there. If we sneak him in there during a nap, when he wakes up he freaks out.
So, he just slept with us. Works fine for me, but Donnie thinks he needs to get out and maybe he'd sleep through the night better. (I don't follow that logic, myself) He demanded that we put Sam in the crib, but then he didn't do it, because of the daggers I was throwing at him with my eyes. Or the venom my words were spewing at him. But he decided Sam could sleep with us again.
So, I decided that the sweet crib I spent so much time painting and setting up, and crying over could just come down. It is a waste of space.
We are rearranging kids rooms so my mom will have a room when she moves here in a few months.
I put a bottom bunk under Trinity's loft bed and away we went! Sam and I slept there last night and it went well. Nap time went well today. And hopefully tonight I can slip out to my own bed and he will stay put. I'll keep sleeping with him as he wakes up until he stays there on his own. He doesn't fall out of the bed, so that isn't an issue, he's slept in our super high bed his whole life and doesn't fall out.
And you know, I am not sad about this at all. It is in my time frame, and I am giving Sam time to adjust with me there. No pain for any of us. No screaming all alone wondering why mommy doesn't love him any more. And no daggers or venom shooting in Donnie's direction. And Donnie has hope of having a child-free bed, at least for 9 months, lol. Cause who knows what will happen when we have no kids in there. (I'm praying for twins)

What a great idea!

I have two sons (age 5 & 4) and a one year old daughter. My daughter has been sleeping with us since she was born but my husband also seems to think we should have the bed to ourselves. But oh how she hates her crib.

Perhaps I shall just move her to a normal bed (and myself for a time too).

Great idea. I hope it works!

Glad you're able to work it out to everyone's satisfaction! There's nothing quite so sweet as the feeling of knowing all your children will sleep through the night.
