Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Donnie called me from his cell just a bit ago. Seems that the roads here in Minnesota are coated in ice. A slick ice that doesn't bode well for cars.
Donnie was driving his car down 10 where it meets up with 35W and found himself slipping and then driving backwards. As he slid backwards down the ramp he passed another guy in the ditch who jumped from his car to avoid being hit.
Thankfully he slid right on by, but ended up joining the other man in the ditch 75 feet later.
And there they sit waiting for AAA to send a tow truck. Or two.
The two men sitting in a ditch 75 feet apart will probably never meet. Because they are guys. If they were women, you know they'd be visiting each other, especially since the tow could be two hours away!

20 minutes after going in the ditch, the snow plow came along and salted the roads for them.

Update!!!

After some time passed by the other guys tow truck came, along with, I think, a paramedic and a trooper. The trooper said it was too dangerous to stay in the ditch, so they made the other tow truck pull Donnie out, and AAA is going to reimburse us for paying them. Well, after they got him out and on the road, they discovered a tire blew out. So he was going to tow Donnie to Walmart. But while working on that the guy got a call for an emergency and ditched him on the side of the road. LOL He is coming back, but maybe he should have just had the AAA guy not cancelled. So, he is safe and out of the ditch, but still can't move. Not sure why he doesn't have a spare to change it??? Or it isn't safe to change it on the road???

Another Update!
Donnie has finally made it to work! The tow truck finally came back for him and brought him to a tire place, and it was a 2 1/4 hour wait, so he walked across the street to Walmart, which was a 3 hour wait. So he just went to Wendy's for some lunch.
But he is finally fixed and back to work. The tow was $$$ but fixing the tire was only $25. And praise God we will be reimbursed by AAA for the tow truck!

As I said, all good things come to those that wait....and WAIT sometimes.

I am glad he is ok...

I'm not glad that your husband is in a cold, icy pickle, but I am glad to know that even tough Minnesotans have trouble on the icy roads. =)

Wow...talk about out of the frying pan, into the fire. Or ice water, as it were. I'm thankful he's ok and that it only cost 25 dollars. That is such a blessing when things like that happen.

Yikes! Glad he's out of the slippery stuff! I guess there are perks to having unseasonably warm winters?

Ugh - is Winter over yet? Glad you enjoyed my giggling baby post. =-) I have played it at least 50 times since last night too. Is there a better sound in the whole wide world?
