Minnesota State Bird

All right, let the record reflect that Kaytlin asked for this today when she said I didn't love her enough to blog about her.
Years ago we lived in Virginia. We would tell the kids tales about MN, since they had only been there in the winter. When they would complain about the mosquitoes, we would tell them about how bad they are in Minnesota. They are so big that they could carry off a small child, they are the state bird, etc. Well, Kaytlin was apparently gullible.
One day Kaytlin came storming into the house, her little feet a stomping up a storm! I could tell she was furious!
She says "Mom, aren't mosquitoes the Minnesota state bird?"
"Well, only jokingly, the real state bird is the Loon."

Oh, the tears of humiliation and anger! She was so mad. (and it took months for her to forgive us and trust us? That took longer.) She had argued vehemently with her arch Nemesis, Uncle Paul, about it, and he was right!

We don't fool her anymore. She doesn't take it well.

However, we got Uncle Paul back when he insisted that lizards have holes all the way through their heads that you can look through. We took him to the pet shop, and they laughed at him. They didn't even answer the question. (I think he may have even insisted it was Iguanas, specifically.)
One day we found a Budweiser glass with an Iguana on it and it was damaged, the paint was scratched off giving the appearance of a hole being in it's head. Yes, we most certainly bought it for him.
We don't let people live these things down.
And if I am wrong about the lizards, you can't prove it. And I will delete your comments if you do prove it. I won't be proven wrong. I won't.

What good is it for people to make a complete fool of themselves if you can't then hold it over them for the rest of their or your life?

That's a big part of the fun of living!

Our Number Two Daughter can't take a joke either.
