Our 7 Qtpies

Ohhh!!!! I could just scream!

Today I called the grocery store to talk to the highest manager. Apparently they discussed it in a meeting they were at when I called. So I asked them to have Ron call me after the meeting and the gal that answered the phone said, "I'll have the billing department call you." Ron not only said he didn't believe they wouldn't let me talk to him, but he also said the manager I talked to that evening said he offered me a refund and that I REFUSED it! I told him that I was never offered a refund by ANY person that night, and that they are flat out lying about that. They may have assumed I would refuse as I said it was not about the $.04, it was about the principle of the thing, but I did not refuse a refund. He also absolutely did not believe that the checkout girl said she knew it was happening to everyone and that she wasn't about to take it off each order!

I am so ticked off! And did he offer a refund? Not at first. He did finally say "I guess we owe you some money." To which I responded there were many people that they owed. He didn't feel that way. It was just a glitch and no big deal.

I am thinking I will take this to the local paper and have people bombard them with refund requests. They are not going to advertise that they had a glitch and if you have a receipt with that glitch that they will refund it. Wouldn't that at least show they were concerned about it?

I think I would be hot too. Its a real pretty form of legal stealing, as long as no one is going to complain about it, they will keep doing it time and again. Its only a few cents for "Dern" sake. With big families we need to keep all the pennies we have. Good for you for catching it and being a mouth peice for all the ones who did not catch it.

It is definitely the principle of it. I never check my receipts and I'm sure they're counting on that. You go girl!

Speaking up will bring more people together! Most people do not even check their receipt so mistake like that happen all the time and If no one speak up nothing will get change!

We also had a problem of the same sort with Bank fee when your account is fee free and they end up charging you hiding some fees from you and they hope no one will notice!!!!

I think big companies are taking advantage of people negligence!!!! We have to check out ourself to make sure there is no mistake done!

As if we don't already get nickel and dimed to death legally, then people pull stunts like this.

Go for it, since it's not like I work for the company anyway. I saw the deal in the ad that week, and decided I should probably not have most of that stuff in my house, what with being on WW and all, so I decided to forego the deal myself.

That is really frustrating! Too bad you weren't wired! :)
I would still take it to the paper!

My husband said that most companies reduce the price of the item you are buying and then add the 1 cent to each added item for invetory so the records are not off. He also said that they should of known that and just told you about it instaed of acting like it was a mistake. It is legal, but how they are acting towards you is awful!

What a sad thing. The manager shoudl have listened with a concerned ear and tried to understand your situation. You are a regular, paying customer, and your opinion should count!

Mentioning it to the newspaper would probably help a few poeple realize that the sale was not a real "free stuff" sale. If your actions help out simply one person, you have done a great job, right? :)
