An Inspirational book

I just read The Right Words at the Right Time Volume 2: Your Turn! By Marlo Thomas.
This inspirational book is a collection of stories submitted by people who were moved or changed by the words spoken by someone at just the right time.
The very first story had me crying. I am a bit patriotic, and maybe a little sentimental, and the story just hit right in my heart.
I really enjoy reading books that I can can read in short bits when I don't have a lot of time, but I can still complete a story or two. But I don't lose my place, I can pick it right back up in an hour, or a day or a week.
Most of the stories were really moving to me. One of the stories made me think about what I would like to do but that I put off or don't think I could do. So many times we think about how long it will take, and how old we will be when we get through it. But the words "You'll still be 40 if you don't do it." were really profound. Time is still going to pass, why not go for what you want in life?
This book would make a great gift for anyone.

I'm a sap

Every time I read this book I bawl. I don't just shed a tear, I have to fight body wracking sobs. Crazy. So I bought it for all my moms one year for Mother's Day. (hmmm, just thought of a great gift for my sister in law!)

So, today, Trinity insisted I read this book. I always refuse the other kids because they want to see my cry so they can laugh at me. But Trinity just wanted to read a book. Besides, I know it all now, and I am not pregnant, so I will just NOT focus on the words and just mindlessly read it.
But I got into the book. It captivated me and drew me in despite my determination to not hear the words I was reading.
Soon, I was bawling. Tears running down my cheeks, and my chest heaving just a bit as I tried not to disturb Trinity's enjoyment of the story. But I couldn't hold back the sobs.
I have NEVER read this book or heard it read without crying. And I first heard it over 12 years ago while living in Germany.

Here is Robert Munsch's website about the book. You can hear him read the book even. If you do not cry, you are heartless.
This mom has a new baby, and she rocks that little baby and sings it a song, all the way through the terrible twos, the horrid teens, and even adulthood. Then she gets sick and calls for her son, but she can't finish the song because she is so sick. And then the rest of the book happens and I bawl.
(oh, and I just read why he made up that song, and I want to bawl some more! He made up the song in his head after his wife and he had two still born babies, he sang it for them, but couldn't sing it aloud without crying!)

We met Beverly Lewis!

The girls were so excited to meet Beverly Lewis! They even ended up with a fourth friend with us. Mrs. Lewis was so sweet and wonderful, just a gentle spirit. She told Leah that she loved her name, and it made Leah's day. The girls are: Kaytlin, Rachel, Beverly Lewis, Samantha and Leah.
Here is my pic with Mrs. Lewis. And a babywearing pic, at that! Trinity is in the corner down there. Sam looks miserable, it was very warm today, and we did not dress for that. He did really good up until right after this picture was taken.
I will review the two new books we bought when I am done with them.

Yippee!

Beverly Lewis, my favorite author, is going to be doing a book signing somewhat close to my town next Monday! I can't think of any other author I would travel to get a book signed by, except maybe Jeanette Oake. Kaytlin and 2 of her friends are even planning to skip out of afternoon classes so we can get there and get our books signed!
Beverly Lewis writes children, teen and adult books. The books I love are her Amish suspense and romance novels. She offers an honest and real look at the Plain community. I feel that I have learned so much from reading her stories, even though they are mostly fictional, the traditions and secrets happen. Reading her Abram's Daughter series both thrilled and tore my heart apart! When a book can make you weep until you can't see the pages any more, you know that the writing is excellent and inspired by God!
These are books that I want my teen daughters to read. They show excellent reasons to wait until marriage for even a kiss, and it shows that sin has its consequences, but also that God is a forgiving God. Even when you are forgiven, some sins have lasting consequences.
Lewis has two books coming out, one for adults and one a children's book. I think I will pick up both since we have not read her children's books yet.
