TV viewing does not affect toddlers cognitive abilities

Researchers at the Children's Hospital in Boston reported on Monday that TV watching in the first two years of life did not help or harm the cognitive abilities of children. TV viewing is not harmful, but it is not helpful, either. This was the conclusion of researchers after taking into account many factors and administering two tests to a control group of children.

The bad news is that it does not end the debate of TV or no TV between parents, doctors, and media. The American Academy of Pediatrics has discouraged the use of TV for children under 2. The study did not dispute the findings of previous research showing a link to obesity from early TV watching.

I am writing at the Examiner today, please read the rest of TV viewing does not affect toddlers cognitive abilities over there.

Well, that's good to know considering my kids watch WAY too much TV.

Hmmmm. By "cognative abilities" do they mean intelligence? How about attention span, I wonder?
