Remember the tree story? Well, their insanity did not stop at the tree. That was just the beginning. The tree incident blew over rather quickly.
But soon we started getting calls from the church we rented from. Apparently every time their cable went out, they would call the church and blame my kids. It worked in the bedroom, but not the living room, so it was my kids. It didn't work on one tv, so she had to bring a different tv in the room, so it was my kids. Seriously. When it wasn't my kids, it was because of the trees in the back yard touching the line.
Never once were they right, but we kept getting calls.
Then, one time we were using the grill, and the lady called the church and told them we were having unattended fires just all over the place. The church people actually came out and checked out our yard! Umm, yeah, that is smoke in our GRILL. Where is the fire that is just crazy out of control and unattended?
Oh, and then there was the time the kids and Donnie did some legal fireworks, which means they make noise but don't go anywhere, in a wheel barrow. THAT one was fun, too. Got another call.
Turns out the lady, who was really pretty much in need of a nursing home, was terrified of fire, so our grill made her freak out. The cable I have no idea what was up her craw.
Why did we move???
Well, there was that stuff, and then the house itself and the church people we dealt with. But that is another story.

A little craziness

About four years ago, maybe a bit longer, actually, I was pregnant with Trinity and had been in the hospital for morning sickness. The day after I was released I was resting, I was still very weak and not much better. I got a knock on my door. It was our neighbors adult son, who is probably old enough to be a grandfather, he seemed older than my dad, even. He was really, really worked up! He demanded that I come outside right this minute and see what my kids had done.
Wait a minute, I just got out of the hospital last night, and I am not going outside without you telling me what is going on. He is very insistent. So I asked him if my kids were ok and he said they weren't hurt but I needed to go outside right now. Sorry, bud, but I am not going outside, I JUST got out of the hospital.
Well, he said that my kids were cutting branches off a tree. Whoa! "My kids are cutting branches off your mom's trees?" I was NOT happy. He said "No, they are cutting branches in your tree that my mom has to look at out her window and it looks ugly."
Oh. My. Word. Is he serious?!? Yes, he was quite serious. And still insisting I come outside. But I told him that I could not, and that my husband would deal with it shortly when he got home. And he starts freaking at me that those tree branches wouldn't grow back and it was ugly, blah blah. I told him that the church we were renting from were going to cut those trees down and put in a parking lot, anyway, what is the big deal? Oh, no, he insisted they would leave the trees in there, they wouldn't cut down the TREES for a parking lot! Umm, yes, they will. Still, he insists I come outside. And I said "Look, do you think I can glue the branches back on the tree? Somehow, my coming outside right now because you are freaking out about tree branches on a tree in our yard is somehow going to make things better, and it just can't wait until my husband comes home?" Well, that got him back tracking a bit, because obviously there is no solution to his anger. Anger he has no right to feel. So he threatens to call our landlord. Go ahead, buddy.
The church laughed. And cutting the bottom branches off had actually ended a problem of the tree catching the trash blowing around town. Did us a favor.
Why did the kids do that? Because Donnie had been pruning some broken branches and they were helping him.
And there are more stories with this neighbor, lol.

Rememberings #1 The neighbors and the tree
I have been surfing blogs lately, whats new??, and I have come across so many posts that have brought back memories that I just have to blog about! I don't want to forget things, you know. So I am going to start a Rememberings posting.
A few years ago we moved into a rental house. I was pregnant when we moved in and in the midst of horrid morning sickness. I was soooo sick that I had to be hospitalized for it.
The day after I got home from the hospital I hear the doorbell ring. I drug myself down the stairs to answer the door and it is our elderly neighbor's slightly younger than she is, son. Meaning he isn't young, either, probably a grandpa. He tells me to get outside and see what my kids are doing, in his huffy voice. I asked him why. And he just repeated the demand that I get out there now and see what they did. "Look, I just got out of the hospital yesterday, I am NOT coming outside right now until you tell me why and I can decide if I should." So he says my kids cut down branches out of a tree. I was so horrified! "They cut down branches in one of your mother's trees?" "No, they cut down branches in one of your trees."
"You are freaking out at me over a tree in our yard?"
"Well, those branches don't grow back!"
"Umm, really, a tree in our yard and you are over here freaking out at me?"
"My mom has to look at those trees and it is ugly to have one tree with branches cut off!"
"Ok, I'll have my husband look at it when he gets home."
"No, you need to get out here and see what they did!"
"No, my husband will take care of it."
"But they cut down the branches on a tree!"
"What do you want me to do, go glue the branches back on??"
"I'm calling your landlords!" Blah blah blah... you get the drift.
Well, it turns out they cut a few branches off the bottom of a fir tree, which actually made it so we can mow under it and it quit catching all the garbage blowing around town! And the landlords didn't care at all.
But from then on, anytime her cable went out the called the landlords and blamed it on us or our trees and all sorts of things. I went over there to see what on earth they think my kids did to their cable. It turns out that it worked on one tv, not the other. And what does that have to do with my kids?? Yep, she's OLD, and he's a nutcase. They called our landlords and told them we were having an unsupervised fire in our backyard when we were barbequing! LOL The landlords actually came out and saw that they are crazy, so that helped us a ton.
Yep, we moved!
